Sacro Occipital Technique was developed by Dr. M. B. DeJarnette in the early 1920's and he continued to refine his technique until his death in the 1990's. Dr. DeJarnette was both a chiropractor and an osteopath and he came to chiropractic after he was severely injured in an explosion. He was so impressed by how both chiropractic and osteopathy helped him to heal that he made it his life's work to develop as precise a technique that he could use to help others as he was helped. He had started out as an engineer, so his technique is built around the understanding of mechanics and the nervous system and it’s effectiveness lies in its ability to determine where the primary subluxation exists.
