Network Chiropractic (aka Network Spinal Analysis) was developed in the 1980's by Dr. Donald Epstein. Through his clinical practice, Dr. Epstein developed a system of analysis and light, gentle contacts that, when applied with precision, induce changes in respiration and muscle tone. Sacro occipital technique and Logan Basic were some of the chiropractic techniques that became foundational to his work.
As Dr. Epstein applied his technique he noticed that some people under his care developed two unique waves- a respiratory wave and a muscular (somatopsychic) wave. These waves developed independently of each other, but were interconnected, and with continued care the waves evolved and became more refined. His patients were noticing greater ease of breath, a greater sense of well-being, and an unwinding sensation during their sessions that helped to ease their muscle tension and reduce pain. Dr. Epstein became aware that his patients were self-correcting and he postulated that Network was increasing body self-awareness and aiding the body to develop new strategies for healing.
Somatorespiratory Integration (SRI) is a sister technique to Network that uses breath and touch to bring greater awareness to areas that need it. The use of Network and SRI together in combination is a powerful tool that can not only restore a person to a pre-condition state but guide people to a new state of health and well-being. When this occurs it is known as reorganizational healing and it signifies an advancement in the state of a person's being and a higher level of function.
